What a great start to this years outdoor weeks! The weather has not been as kind to us this year but the classes have still enjoyed some outdoor learning. Please remember to bring your outdoor kits next week too for more fun. 

Silver Birch Class had a very busy morning today. They were given a DT project to design and make their own kite in teams. 

The children could decide from a Diamond or Delta shaped kite to make.

We began our 'Outdoor Weeks' with a Tuesday Trek. It was a little too muddy to go onto the field so we trekked along the path and around the playground.

It was great to see the children and staff outside in the sunshine today. They all joined in with Trekking Tuesday, and walked around the field or the playground.

I managed a few laps of the playground too, as I didn't have my wellies!

Today the children were working outside using the 8 points of a compass. They had to identify North, South, East and West using a compass.  

Then they went on to focus on North West, North East, South East and South West.

Well done to all these children in year 4 who completed theTimes Table Rock Star challenges this week.

We have been learning all about 2D shapes and we went outside and used natural materials to make 2D shapes.

Our new reception children are settling well into school life. They have been finding their way around, learning our routines, making new friends and having lots of fun along the way. Here are a few photos of the first week in Oak Class.

All the children have made a fantastic start to the new school year, working hard and having lots of fun!

This week Year 2 have been outdoors to gather adjectives for use in our writing. We are using our ideas to support our learning. 

The children in year 4 have started their new Science topic on Solids, Liquids and Gases.

To kick start our new topic the children had the opportunity to make slippery slime. This is made with cornflour and water.

All the children thoroughly enjoyed this activity.
