Year 2 have been working hard, learning how to play 'Old McDonald' on the Ocarina.

We have been practising playing the high D, low D, G and A notes.

Today the children in Year 4 have been learning how to play their recorder. We have learnt how to hold our instrument correctly, sing songs and copy rhythms with our instruments. 

Yesterday two headteachers and a deputy head from three local schools visited Gillibrand.

The feedback I received from them is wonderful.

Year 4 took advantage of the windy weather this morning and they got to fly their kites outside in the wind. 

The children all enjoyed this experience and were so excited to finally get to fly their kites.

Year 3 have started to learn how to play the ukulele. So far we have learnt to hold the ukulele correctly and play  ‘C’. We look forward to improving our skills over the course of the year. Children will need to bring in their ukuleles on Fridays.

Mrs Smith came to teach us all about making healthy lifestyle choices.

  We looked at food choices in particular and learned that we can eat 19g of sugar per day but that some foods contain almost our whole sugar allowance!

We have had a very active and interesting fortnight exploring the outdoors and learning a great deal along the way.

The children have enjoyed a variety of different hunting activities. First we hunted for minibeasts, then we hunted for bears and yesterday we hunted for numbers!
