We have been learning about the properties of regular 2D shapes. We worked in groups to guess shapes by listening to a description of  their mathematical properties and matching the shapes using art straws and pin boards.

Some children investigated regular triangles, asking the question; are all triangles regular? We found out that some triangles are irregular by measuring the length of each side of the triangles that we created.

We also investigated if all four sided shapes were squares or rectangles; we found out that not all four sided shapes are squares or rectangles.

Some children created 2D shape pictures and described their picture by naming the shapes and discussing the number of sides and corners on each shape.
