Monday 9th January 2017

Dear Parents,

I am genuinely sad to announce my retirement as Headteacher at Gillibrand. I have been Headteacher at Gillibrand since January 2002 and the time has certainly flown by. I feel now is the right time to embark on the exciting prospect of retirement and I shall be leaving Gillibrand at the end of the Spring Term.

In order for Governors to have plenty of time to find my replacement, I informed them of my decision early in the Autumn Term 2016. Therefore, during the last term Governors have been very busy and will be interviewing for the new Headteacher next week. I will inform parents as soon as I know the outcome.

May I take this opportunity to thank you as parents for your continued support. Our school has come far and we have achieved it together. Our children are lucky to attend a school where the adults do care about them. I would like to put on record my appreciation of the support and loyalty I have received from all the staff. They work extremely hard and have put into action the vision that only the best is good enough for the children at Gillibrand.

I will take with me many wonderful memories of the past fifteen years provided by our fantastic children. They are a credit to you as parents and to the school.  They never cease to amaze me and make me smile; not least the very perceptive child who continues to believe that I am in my twenties. That child will go far!

I am very thankful for the opportunities I have been given during my time at Gillibrand. Yes, there have been several challenging moments but there have been far more wonderful times. I wish the school, the children and the staff every success in the future.

Yours sincerely,

S. Bryson
