Year 4 learned lots of new facts about our digestive systems in Science today.  We were fascinated to learn that when empty our stomach is around the size of a fist, but that it can expand up to 30 times that size.  We learned lots of the correct scientific names for the parts of our body, which help us to digest our food, such as the oesophagus and intestine.  We worked in groups to create a working model of the digestive system to help us to understand what happens to our food when it enters our bodies.  We used a pair of tights to represent how the food travels through our small and large intestine!   We are looking forward to creating our digestive system out of plasticine next to show our new knowledge.
