This week, all of the classes in KS2 have started their Rivers topic. To launch the topic we had an exciting visit from The Ribble Rivers Trust who work to improve, protect and promote the River Ribble for both people and wildlife.

The children took part in different activities, learning about the different key features of a river and how to protect them. We looked at a river table which showed how a river flows and what happens over time. The children then talked about the effects of flooding and erosion and what we can do about it, for example planting trees on the riverbanks.

All of the children have thoroughly enjoyed the workshop and learned lots of interesting information!
